Food & children in the Nordic region
Project manager: Harriet Strandvik, harrietstrandvik@hsconsulting.ax
The first phase of the New Nordic Food project concerning children and food have now been finalised. 78 different initiatives have been mapped out by a Nordic working group. The results show that projects around children and food are generally of high quality and often show a high level of creativity. All projects have a common focus on sustainability and promote closeness to nature. Moreover, in Sweden and Finland school meals are a recurring project subject.
The overall challenge is to improve collaboration among countries and operators. Moreover, in the future, greater consideration must be taken to different age groups when planning the projects. A Nordic network that can work and collaborate in the long-term would simplify the planning process. The overall goal is to promote healthy living to all children in the Nordic countries. Starting in 2013, a news letter following the work of the project "Food and children in the Nordic region" will be produced. In the Autumn the project launched Nordic children's kitchen manifesto.
