Food education in child care

The Finnish project on food education in child care continues. The goal is to spread awareness and establish more methods for teaching about food in day care.
The methods focus on the children's own experiences with food and facilitate participation amongst the children. The aim is to try to combat overweight amongst children and promote a varied diet in day care.
The project's network includes 43 local councils, about 250 business entities in day care and home day care in 17 local councils. Last year the project organised 73 training courses for about 2900 dietary managers in child care.
