Nordic Sound Bite at the Ja Ja Ja Festival

20-09-2013

Cutting edge Nordic cuisine including “Nordic Sound Bite” - a new concept developed by New Nordic Food that promises the ultimate collaboration between music and food.

A range of innovative cuisines and food experiences will be offered during the festival. These will include “Nordic Sound Bite” - a collaboration with curator and designer Nikolaj Danielsen (DEN) that partners musicians with young food artists - and a menu designed by leading Swedish chef and entrepreneur Herman Rasmusson.

Additionally, the Roundhouse will play host to a Nordic Fika, while a special daytime programme will present sessions and talks by young artists working with design, food and music. Ja Ja Ja Festival’s food programme is supported by New Nordic Food - a Nordic Council of Ministers initiative that promotes Nordic food in the region and internationally. www.newnordicfood.org

Both days will also feature a Nordic record label market and an exhibition of visual art from Icelandic artists Örvar Smárason (múm) and Sindri Már Sigfússon (Sin Fang).

On November 8th-9th, Camden’s iconic Roundhouse will play host to a major festival of Nordic music, film and food with the inaugural Ja Ja Ja Festival. Headlined with rare UK appearances by Mew (their first London show in over 4 years) and The Raveonettes, the two-day event welcomes festival-goers to sidestep the dark English winter and immerse themselves in Nordic cool.

Attendees will watch some of the biggest and hottest new bands in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, enjoy rarely-screened music documentaries, browse a Nordic record label market, experience stunning art exhibits and savour cutting edge New Nordic cuisine.

The festival is an evolution of the much-loved monthly Ja Ja Ja club night, which, since 2009, has established itself as London’s premier destination for the very best new Nordic music. The Ja Ja Ja Festival has been developed in joint collaboration with the Roundhouse, and is supported by the Nordic Embassies in London and the Nordic Culture Fund.
